The Muir Hunter Museum of Bankruptcy at KLS has recently acquired two further items to add to the burgeoning collection. We now have over three hundred objects, including ephemera, re-creation display items, primary source materials on cases, pamphlets, books, wigs, pillories, pictures, etc. The new pieces are an 1855 Printed Circular (pictured) from George Clark, Examiner in The Court for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors - Court of Francis Stack Murphy - in the matter of William Hood, Insolvent Debtor, giving notice of a Dividend Meeting. The letter is franked with 1d star stamp (pencil note C2 P200) posted to Richard Whyman, Tanner at Flinsham, Nottinghamshire, and has part of the Newark arrival backstamp torn away where seal opened.
The second item is a signed copy of Mr Jim Davidson OBE's biography (pictured) which is entitled "One Bankruptcy's Enough." If any blog readers have any interesting bankruptcy or insolvency related items that they wish to sell please contact me (j.tribe@kingston.ac.uk). Anything will be considered as the last item clearly demonstrates!
